GMAT 2019 Exam

The GMAT (2019) or the Graduate Management Aptitude Test is a computer aptitude entrance exam that takes place numerous times throughout the year. The test is organized by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) where an individual's reading, writing, and analytical skills are tested. This is a very popular exam for the admission in top globally acclaimed universities in the MBA program. Some of the top colleges which accept GMAT for the MBA program are Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, Oxford University, etc.

More than 7,000 programs accept the GMAT 2019 score across 2,000 graduate business universities globally. The level of difficulty of each question depends on the accuracy of the previous questions response. GMAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria

It is essential for the candidate to be 18 years of age. If they are between the ages of 13 to 17, they will require legal written permission from their parents or guardian. No specific qualification or an upper age limit has been made compulsory to appear for GMAT. A student can maximum appear for the exam for 5 years and there should be a gap of 16 days between appearing for a consecutive exam. The eligibility must be taken seriously otherwise failing which candidate will not be allowed to sit for the exam or the score will be invalid, which will be just a waste of money and time.


GMAT 2019 Registration

  • You can register for GMAT anytime throughout the year.
  • Both online and offline mediums can be used for registration.
  • Students must register at a point when they can have enough time for preparation.
  • A print out a copy of the registration is important for further use.

Generally, the GMAT fee is around $250 but different options require different fees. The fee is to be paid first in order to appear for the exam. There is a whole procedure for the payment from which the students can choose what is best for them.

Online payment mode

  • MasterCard, VISA, American Express, and JCB are accepted.
  • If the debit or credit card is declined, registration is automatically canceled.
  • Any stolen card used for payment will stand canceled.
  • Payment can also be made by calling and giving your card details with an additional charge of $10.
  • You can mail and request for a schedule of payment.

Offline payment mode

  • Cheques and money orders are accepted.
  • Cheques and orders must contain the current date.
  • The amount should include all the fees including all the taxes.

Cancellation Fee

A refund of $80 is possible if the test is canceled after seven days of registration. However, if you cancel the exam within 7 days there will be no refund. So, cancel the exam early if possible.

Rescheduling Fee

A fee of $50 is charged for rescheduling for a rescheduling of the exam for more than 7 days and to give the exam within 7 days there will be a charge of $250.




Computerized Adaptive Testing        

Also referred to as CAT, Computerized Adaptive Testing prepared its next set of questions based on the correctness of the candidate's answer. The test provides a precise analysis of the examinee’s abilities and skills. As Computers are accurate and the answers are directly saved to the Administration, so there is no chance of mismatch and confusion. The questions will be of multiple choice from which you can choose what looks correct for you. At the accurate time when the exam begins the questions are displayed so there is no leaking of question papers.


Executive Assessment Exam

The Executive Assessment Exam is designed to test the readiness of the candidate. It tested how committed and prepared the individual is for the program and also focuses on testing at what level is the candidate to become entirely focused. Actually, it is for the admission to executive MBA throughout the world and it tests the student ability in quantitative, verbal and integrated reasoning sections. The exam is designed by the same company which makes the GMAT. It is especially for the aspirants of EMBA and for those who want to gear up to the top positions in the management world.

Difference between GMAT and GRE

  • GMAT is only applicable to business schools while GRE is accepted at all colleges.
  • The quantitative section in the GMAT is comparatively difficult than GRE.
  • GRE analyses language skills are better than GMAT.
  • Unlike GRE, GMAT is compulsory for business schools.
  • In GRE, you can take breaks between questions to relieve yourself which is not possible in GMAT.


Scheduling GMAT Exam

Rescheduling GMAT Exam

  • If the date is rescheduled within seven days of the test, an additional $250 will be charged.
  • The test cannot be rescheduled within 24 hours before taking the exam.
  • If the test is missed, no refund will be provided, and the test can be rescheduled after 16 days.
  • Rescheduling can be done online or through calling.
  • You can reschedule as many times as required.


GMAT 2019 Exam Pattern

  • The test is taking place in 3 hours and 7 minutes. It consists of 4 sections – Analytical Writing Assessment, Quantitative Reasoning, Integrated Reasoning, and Verbal Reasoning.
  • The analytical section requires you to analyze through argument.
  • The integrated reasoning is divided into four more sections –table analysis, graphics interpretation, multi-source reasoning, and two-part analysis.

GMAT Syllabus 2019

GMAT syllabus comprises four sections – Analytical assessment, Integrated, Quantitative and Verbal Reasoning. The student should always be aware of any change in the GMAT exam pattern.

  • Analytical Assessment: It tests your writing skills, your ability to put up arguments with clarity and logic, the essay will be analyzed overall and it analyzes your argument with a methodical approach.


  • Integrated Reasoning: The table analysis will have statements that need to be categorized as true or false, the graph representation needs to interpreted by choosing from the given options, multi-source reasoning involves choosing options from a table and graph, in the two-part analysis, an individual answer has to be chosen from the given component from 2 columns.


  • Quantitative Reasoning: It includes basic arithmetic, algebra and geometry questions, there are multiple-choice questions to answer from, the problem-solving section has a greater number of problems that test your mathematical abilities, the data sufficiency requires to analyze data accurately and therefore it is important to learn the entire order.


  • Verbal Reasoning: The underlying meaning of the passage needs to be understood incomprehension, the critical reasoning section requires logical and correct analysis, while reading, the keywords need to be grasped for a better understanding, sentences must be grammatically corrected by choosing the option from the multiple-choice answer.


GMAT Score 2019

The GMAT score is a combination of verbal and quantitative scores ranging from 0 to 60. The total score starts ranging from 200 to 800. The score is generally valid till 5 years.

  • Analytical Writing Assessment

The essay is scored twice, by the computer and human reader.

The score range is 0.0 to 6.0.

The scores are averaged at intervals of 0.5.

If the two scores differ by 1 point, a third examiner finalized the score.

More than 50 linguistic features are analyzed while being scored.

  • Integrated Reasoning

The score range is 1 to 8.

Each score interval is a single digit.

More than one response is required for each question.

There is no partial scoring.

All responses must be attempted for the full score.

  • Quantitative and Verbal Reasoning

The score range is between 6 to 51.

Marking depends on the number of questions attempted.

The difficulty of each question makes a difference in the score; therefore a higher number of correct answers increase the scores.

An error of measurement will cost 3 points.

Each score is marked at an interval of 1 point.

How to access the GMAT Score?

  • You will receive 4 out of 5 of your scores immediately after the test.
  • An unofficial score print out can be taken at the test center.
  • The score can be accessed online anytime.

The validity of GMAT Score

  • The score of GMAT is valid for five years since the test date.
  • The official score will be available within 20 days of the exam.
  • The official score report presents all the GMAT exams taken by you.
  • The scores sent to schools are those accepted by the candidate.
  • Scores older than five years are available with an additional fee but will not be valid.

GMAT Exam Dates

Dates for the GMAT exam are available all year round. Candidates can choose their dates according to their convenience, but you must book your appointment at a gap of 16 days if you wish to retake the exam. You can take the test 5 times a year which means only 5 test dates will be made available depending on your availability and convenience. There are no fixed dates in any month or week. Therefore exams take place almost daily. If an emergency and you cannot appear for the exam on the date then you can apply for a rescheduling of the exam date. There is a procedure for the rescheduling of the exam and it states that if you reschedule the exam within 7 days then you have to pay a fee for an additional $250. However, if you reschedule it over 7 years then you will be charged an additional $50. GMAT exam dates are very crucial because as the exam is completed such a global level then a little disarrangement can lead to big confusion. The student must be aware of the exam dates as if you miss an exam there will be a waste of a lot of time and money. There have been no changes in the exam dates or centers. The pattern of the exam remains the same with time duration, marking scheme and score ranges. The profile made on the GMAT website registers your details permanently, and no further changes can be made. Making sure that the details are entered carefully is important.
